THE 16TH SUNDAY OF ST. LUKE.

THE SUNDAY OF THE PUBLICAN AND PHARISEE, START OF THE TRIODION.
The Holy Martyr Agatha.

Of (commemoration of saints) whose memory we keep today and of all the Saints,
have mercy on us and save us our Lord, for He is good and loves mankind.

Tone 1.    Eothinon 1.

HYMNS AFTER THE GOSPEL ENTRANCE.

Holy Martyr Agatha

APOLYTIKION OF THE RESURRECTION, FIRST TONE. When the stone had been sealed by the Jews and the soldiers were guarding Thine immaculate Body, Thou didst arise on the third day, O Saviour, granting life unto the world. Wherefore, the powers of the Heavens cried out to Thee, O Lifegiver: Glory to Thy Resurrection, O Christ. Glory to Thy Kingdom. Glory to Thy dispensation, O only Friend of man.

APOLYTIKION OF YPAPANTI, FIRST TONE. Rejoice, thou who art full of grace, O Virgin Theotokos, for form thee hath risen the Sun of Righteousness, Christ our God, enlightening those in darkness. Rejoice, thou also, O righteous Elder, as thou receives in thine arms the Redeemer of our souls, Who also granteth unto us the Resurrection.

APOLYTIKION OF THE DORMITION, FIRST TONE. In giving birth, thou didst preserve thy virginity; in thy dormition, thou didst not forsake the world, O Theotokos. Thou wast translated unto life, since thou art the Mother of Life; and by thine intercessions dost thou redeem our souls from death.

KONTAKION OF THE YPAPANTI, FIRST TONE. Thou Who didst sanctify the Virgin's womb by Thy birth, and didst bless Symeon's hands as was meet, by anticipation hast even now saved us, O Christ God. But grant peace in the midst of wars unto Thy commonwealth and strengthen the hierarchs whom Thou hast loved, O only Friend of man.
